Awkward Confession

So, I have to give this small confession.  Lately I've been awkwardly obsessed with two tv shows.  Neither of said shows are ones that I should be watching, for they're either too...well, they're both just weird... but funny in their own way.  Today, while watching one of the episodes, I just about died of laughter at how ridiculous.

"In a time of ancient Gods, Warlords and Kings, a land in turmoil cried out for a hero, she was Xena, a mighty princess forged in the heat of battle, the power, the passion, the danger, her courage will change the world."

That's right, I've been watching Xena.  I loved it when I was a kid and turns out...I still love it!  Ha!  Before I get into my story, there is something you should know about the storyline of the TV show.  Basically...they screw with time a lot.  In the first season we meet a young Homer, Socrates, Caesar, Aphrodite, Ares, and Hercules.  So, basically...we end up all over the place.  So, while I was watching my daily episode today, they had an episode about the winter solstice.  It ended up being HYSTERICAL.

The episode was called A Solstice Carol.  That's right...it was basically A Christmas Carol.  In said episode Xena and Gabrielle and another woman pretend to be the 3 fates who come to convince the evil King Silvus to change his ways, and allow the people to celebrate the winter solstice.  They have the fate of past, present and future (Gabrielle, Xena, and woman respectively).  And in the end, the evil king changes his ways, and decides to allow the celebrations to take place, and stop his malicious evicting of poor people.  In the end, as Xena and Gabrielle are leaving, they run into a poor couple, treking to some distant land, and with a new born.  In order to help them, Gabrielle gives them her donkey.  This nice couple--Joseph and Mary--thank Gabrielle for her generosity and introduce them to their baby...Jesus.  That's right...Xena and Gabrielle just met the holy couple.  Anyway...just thought I'd share that.  You prolly won't enjoy it as much as I did but...Such is Life

  1. I may or may not have had a Xena phase some years ago. And it may or may not have helped me understand Der Ring des Nibelungen (all four operas) in Vienna Fall 2004... And yes, I may or may not have just googled it to find out more information, according to the very reliable source, Wikipedia, "Season 6 of Xena: Warrior Princess includes a trilogy ("The Rheingold", "The Ring" and "Return of the Valkyrie") that combines the stories of Xena, The Ring Cycle, and Beowulf." Yeah, it was pretty much awesome with slight awkward, almost lesbian-esque interactions between Xena and Gabrielle. I mean, I HEARD that that was the case... I'm not sure... I just might have seen it once...
